Transcript: Hello and welcome to the Boston Barista. My name is Kevin Patrick Seaver, located in Boston, Massachusetts.(…) Today’s episode is gonna be a new record for Centenarians .(…) That are people over the age of 100. Some may say, “I don’t care about living “to 100 years old, attorney, save it.” And that’s your prerogative. But I do, and I think many others do. The greatest gift we all have is what? Life itself. Japan, reach the record high of those over the age of 100. Well, commonly referred to by those that are experts, Centenarians . That a question becomes,(…) how did they do it? We’re gonna answer that here today on the Boston Barista. Japan has the world’s longest life expectancy. Experts credit this longevity in Japan to their lifestyle. The reason for the longevity is also due to the fact that in Japan, they don’t suffer the fatal and often debilitating diseases that other countries have, as frequently. This record by Japan of having the most people over the age of 100 is nothing new. This is the 55th year in a row that they have set such a mark. Japan had 99,763 people over the age of 100. That is up over 4,000 from the previous year. So these numbers continue to climb in Japan with people becoming older as well as longevity of life. What is staggering, however, is the numbers when it comes to women. There’s over 88,000 women in Japan over the age of 100.(…) That is 88% of the population in Japan that are over the age of 100 are women. There are over 11,000 men over the age of 18, but almost one out of every nine people that are over the age of 100 in Japan are women. Why is that? Thanks to question. The oldest person in Japan, I’m not even gonna try and say his name, is 114 years old.
